November 19, 2018 - Opened and drank 1987 Kathryn Kennedy Cab with friends. I thought it held up rather nicely. Cork was in good shape and not a lot of sentiment. After being opened for a while it got even better. Didn't decant it but probably should have. It was good.
The wine looks ruby colored. The legs are fast. There is light sediment in the bottle. The body is medium. The wine has smooth texture. The wine finishes short. The wine has low acidity.

December 30, 2016 - This has held up very nicely. Still plenty of powerful black fruit with a hint of smokey green peppercorn. Medium weight but with good fruit intensity relative to the extract, this Still also plenty of tannic structure, and the tannins are a little bit rough and drying, even with food, which makes the impression slightly rustic -- not for those who like their wine silky smooth. But despite the tannic impression this is not drying out, there's plenty of fruit through the finish, and this puts on weight and grows in power with an hour of air. Not quite as rich and powerful as the 1985 I drank a year ago, but still satisfying.

October 11, 2009 - It was a little minerally right after opening it. It developed nicely over the next hour then faded. Some hints of cherry opened up and the mineral tastes faded to be a nice back drop for the fruit that remained. This bottle was past it's prime, but still very good.

February 15, 2009 - A very refined bottle of wine that drank very well, despite a strange latex paint smell on the nose.
