  January 21, 2022 - Had to pull out something nice for Dads 90th BDay dinner, was unfortunately just just me, Family aren’t really wine drinkers :-( so was the best split I had with some age, though, Dad loves his White Zinfandel so picked up a split for pops, his favorite … and loved it!! (a cheap date, lol !!)
  
  On initial ope, cork broke and the wine was showing a bit of funk….so was a little concerned it might be flawed, but after about an hour all blew off and this was solid. On entry Mostly dark red and red fruit with a little black fruit on the Mid and at the finish. As others have mentioned, not typical ‘in your face’ Carter, a bit lighter than more recent vintages but very nicely integrated nothing overpowering and very enjoyable.
  
  I think most would agree… these are where they are, don’t see any upside of holding out, but if still strong out of a split, these should have many more years of great drinking enjoyment. Drink or Hold.
  
  Did not decant, slow ox for 1 hr , sat in glass another hour .. drank over 2.5 hours.

  January 10, 2022 - 14.9% abv. I let it breathe for 2 hours before enjoying. Enjoyed over three days. A polished midweight cab. I'm a fan of lower acidity cabs and this fits the bill. Suggest pairing this one with a meal. Relatively thin for Carter wines. But enjoyable solid fruit.

  October 13, 2018 - My third and final bottle. Each bottle was a different experience. Perhaps there is bottle variation?

  January 1, 2018 - Wonderfully pure Napa cabernet that seemed to be at peak drinking after about 90 mins of bottle air. It paired very well with charcoal-grilled tri tip beef loin. This wine had plenty of black fruit but also subtle tones of menthol and sweet tobacco. Everything was in balance and very enjoyable. I imagine the 2009 Grand Daddy has 8-10 years remaining. This is a well-made and very special wine.
