February 17, 2013 - Garnet color. Riper than the '98, with plum, cherry and red fruit notes. Blaanced, with cherry, clove, black fruit and plum flavors.

January 29, 2012 - From magnum, decanted briefly off its sediment. Pale ruby color, just a little age showing. Notes of clove, spices and cherries. Medium-bodied, with flavors of cherries and red fruit and baking spices, with nice acidity. Has an elegance to it; lovely. I wish Adam still made Pinots in this style.

January 22, 2009 - 14.2% alcohol. Deep red color with bricking at the rim of the glass. The color looks riper than the wine's palate indicates. Very Hirsch bouquet of black cherry, minerals, damp earth, and a hint of mushrooms. In the mouth, round yet linear, with plenty of juicy black cherry and blackberry fruit, which is bolstered by nicely layered complexity: earth, minerals, mushrooms, a touch of the floral. It's that distinct Sonoma Coast earthiness that I really like here. Good acidity. Long finish. Pretty wine. A-

October 5, 2008 - Reddish purple color; aromas of cherries, and violet floral scents; medium body with acidity perfectly balanced by the complex candied red berry fruit flavors; nice finish; this wine is aging beautifully and shows no signs of peaking.

May 28, 2006 - Bricky ruby in color suggesting a little age but this wine is still youthful. A complex nose of raspberry, red cherry, pine needle and campfire. Silky mouthfeel with bright cherry fruit and an earthy edge. Tannins are resolved and there is a goodly amount of remaining acid on the finish. Very nice but I wish it had a little more complexity on the palate.
