August 4, 2011 - Another reason to consider Merlot as your "go to" grape in value wine purchasing. It is not complex, and concentrated, but it is varietally correct. There is just a hint of graphite on the nose and palate. Moderately fruity, with raspberry and cranberry. There is a small amount of that herbal, minty, green pepper flavor that so much says "Merlot". It handles the oak well. The tannins are just barely discernible. It is soft and balanced, while being able to fill the mouth with slightly above medium bodied viscosity. Your palate is not blown away, but is satisfied for about $10. There are no "off" flavors. The finish is competent, if not all that fruity.
