January 5, 2024 - Off the list at Casa Mono. Adding this note as a service to you sherry lovers who still have this wine. It’s lovely still but fading, lacking pungency and definition. Enjoy it sooner rather than later.

February 17, 2022 - Medium caramel gold color. Lovely, rich nose of toffee, salted caramel, buttered toast, olive, seaweed, miso, smoke, toasted walnuts, and iodine. The combination of obvious age in the solera and then a decade in the bottle has definitely brought this manzanilla pasado closer to an amontillado than a manzanilla. On the palate, it's an absolute knockout. The intensity of flavor is off the charts, with some of its youthful vigor still peeking out with preserved lemon and lime freshness from beneath a luxuriously sweet and savory mixture of all the same notes as on the nose. But it shows such remarkable balance, and also life and vigor on the tongue, with its medium-full body lifted up and energized with just the right amount of acid, and its most prominent flavors elevated by the smoky, dusty, old-leather depth above which they float. And then the finish, with a huge dose of sherry's signature nutty, umami wave, is overwhelmingly powerful yet supple and refined, and it goes on and on and on and on.

I'm drinking this on December 30, and even though it's barely sneaking in under the wire, this might well be my wine of the year. I'm sure that this was intended to be drunk sooner than this, and I'm certainly curious about what this was like when first bottled, but I'm not at all regretful about holding onto it as long as I did. This is profound wine that stops you in your tracks. I paid $45 for this bottle, but it is worth three times that by comparison with other other styles of wine from other, more in-demand parts of the wine world. Stunning.

April 14, 2021 - Fantastisk til tapas, frisk og moden på samme tid.

May 31, 2018 - Drank 1 glass over an hour. Paired with tapas brought back from Spain on David's recent journeys. Darker ambered color. 15.6% alcohol; saca de Junio de 2011. Dry, wood, spicy, raisin, nuts, much more oxidative than the rest. The consensus was this was likely better in its youth.
