Community Tasting Notes 5

October 16, 2012 - Very much in the savory, cedar dominated style at this point, with barely any fruit showing. Plenty of dry tannins, maybe on the downhill slide. Pleasing but very austere.

September 28, 2010 - Lovely nose of dark berries, cassis and anise. Palate is a bit light in comparison, but the finish is very solid and lingering.

September 6, 2009 - This already showed some bricking on the edges. Ripe black cherry, almost raisin with violets and spicy herbs. The midpalate was a bit hollow, but still the wine was well balanced, if in a rustic style.

November 16, 2007 - Drink this fast. Really nice and jammy out of the gate. Nice plum and cocoa tones but this wine is fading fast. Once it aerates for a while you can taste the deterioration over just a couple of hours. Stop holding and drink this one, it's on its downside.

March 30, 2007 - Ripe plum and subtle oak on the nose, with a very complex palate of clay, ripe berry and lead pencil. A bit disjointed but it's almost there...just a bit unbalanced, the acidity is there but not assertive, with dominent tannins and minerality on the attack and a bit lacking in the mid, and the ripe fruit lurking behind. On the verge of being excellent, I give it this rating because it will be even more memorable in a year or so.
