December 29, 2023 - 3rd bottle from a 4 pack. I last had this wine about 4.5 yrs ago, and it is aging beautifully.
Showed off slightly sweet red and blue fruits this evening, a hint of bittersweet chocolate, pretty notes of cassis and black currant but an overlay of bluberry jam that gives the wine a delicious sweetness that tattles on the origin of the wine. The tannins are rounding out nicely, there is nicely buttressed acidity, and a long and fruit-laden finish.
Drink this lovely vintage for another handful of years.

November 25, 2023 - Brought to a very large dinner party. Horrible crumbly cork; big job to get the wine through it. Strained into a decanter through a metal (no other choice) sieve. Plastic glass. Tart character overshadows the fruit. Not really fair to rate it under these circumstances. My host asked, in apparent earnestness, "Am I supposed to like this?" It was okay to drink, but I switched to water for the evening after a half-glass or so.

May 20, 2023 - 30 minute decant. Dark ruby red color. Aromas are dark fruit with cocoa and spice notes. Juicy dark berries and stone fruit flavors with herbs, chocolate, oak and pepper. Tannins are supple and the finish is long. Very nice right now!

October 15, 2022 - Not much tannins remaining. Smooth with a medium finish.

(Betz Family Winery Clos de Betz Red Wine Columbia Valley) Leaps up from the glass with incense, red and dark fruit, toasty spice, potpourri, and chocolate. The palate explodes with red and dark fruit flavors with a firm but well integrated backbone of tannins. Immediately accessible now, this wine has the stuffing to lay down in the cellar and age like a fine Bordeaux. 65% Merlot, 29% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 6% Petit Verdot. 51% Red Mountain, 30% Yakima Valley, and 19% Horse Heaven Hills.
