December 12, 2020 - Wonderful again and perfectly-aged. Excellent structure and balance, with notes of rose, sweet dark cherry, raspberry, oak, with good length on the finish.

March 19, 2020 - Very good wine. Deep red, first signs of rust beginning to appear. I don't place any importance on the color of wine, but I remark on it here because the red is unusual - it's deep red with no darker tones, it's just vividly and deeply red. The nose and palate are very much about cherries - dark, ripe, sour, bright, all of the above. There are some forest floor smells too, some mineral notes. But at this stage the wine is about lush, vibrant, and almost decadent fruit. There is good structure and acidity, the wine is super well balanced and comes across as clean and fresh. If I seems like I'm hedging a bit, it is because A) this is perhaps only the second Chapelle I've ever drunk and am not able, therefore, to say whether or not this wine truthfully displays a sense of Chapelle terroir. I can say that it is very much of Gevrey, in the broad shouldered meatiness of is composition, the direct power that it displays. And B) I cannot tell if the wine is heavily influenced by oak, or if it isn't. Not that it would be bad -it's delicious and expertly made wine either way. But I just feel as though I do not fully understand it. In any case, it's drinking beautifully right now, and it's also clear that holding it for another 10-15 years will add interest, it's in no danger of fading.

March 7, 2020 - Superb and perfectly-aged Grand Cru. Very good structure, with gorgeous notes of rose, sweet dark cherry, and a very long and flawless finish. A sublime burg experience.

February 20, 2020 - First time drinking Trapet. Feel we caught this bottle in its sweet spot, wonderfully poised between primary and tertiary qualities: juicy blue fruit and ferrous notes were seamlessly and unpredictably intermingled with sous bois. Nice acidic backbone gave it the stuffing to cope with ribeye steak. A classy and persistent WOTN.

March 2, 2016 - Wines That Really, Truly Don't Suck (in the least) (Rocknroller's (Kevin's)): Medium dark red color. PNP, drank 1 glass over 90 minutes. I think I thought more of this than Craig did tonight. I loved it. Thought the nose was great with such a beautiful floral perfume that was almost mesmerizing, iron, mineral, funk, earthy, red fruits. The palate is medium bodied, funkilicious (should that be a word), tart, tart red cherry fruit, tart berry, iron, nice tannins, good length. Ready, willing and able. 93+pts.

March 2, 2016 - I think this wine in a better vintage is likely a tad more impressive than it was tonight. Not saying I didn't enjoy it but I sort of expected a bit more. Paid $120 recently.

June 13, 2014 - To the eye, some evolution and browning at the rim. An attractive, autumnal, evolved nose of Asian spices, tobacco, dried red fruits, savoury sous bois and a little tertiary Epoisses. Still zingy on the palate, with the acids still present but nicely softened. Very approachable. Round, mellow, savoury flavours, with fully integrated tannins. Fully evolved and nicely poised and balanced, right at the top of its drinking curve I'd say. It paired beautifully with the lamb dish and cheeses.

June 20, 2012 - Burg Dinner, Mostly Meursault Charmes and Gevrey-Chambertin Grand Cru (Sepia - Chicago IL): Mostly red fruit with simple spice and slightly meaty character. Sweet is nicely sweet and ripe on palate, but a bit angular.

August 18, 2011 - Opened for roughly 45 minutes before consuming. Sour black cherry, earth and dark spice on the nose with an attractive meaty component. Again, sour cherry on the palate. Fantastic texture. Very nicely balanced. Refreshing acidity on the moderate finish.
