August 5, 2023 - Saturday hangout at Domaine (Chicago, IL): Meaty and very classically Hermitage with enough density, even though the lightness of the vintage is on full display. Mature; drink now.

July 8, 2023 - Opened this beautifully resolved Rhone to accompany a chunky 40 day aged bone-in sirloin. Double-decanted for sediment (not that much, very fine) and then promptly started upon. Although not a particularly great wine - which I expected, given the vintage - it seemed in a lovely place, full of bloody sundried tomato, smoke, beef and damp earth, with refreshing acidity and a strong finish despite the lack of top-vintage concentration. Happy to take a back seat to the beef, but also shone when we finished the bottle after the food. The fact it's only 12.5% probably gave us the stamina to open another wine afterwards, too.

April 24, 2021 - Wine meet – 2002 Champagne and 2006 Sangiovese @ Lars: Second bottle over the last months and it has the same smoked, meaty, earthy and mature red fruit notes. Super.

February 17, 2021 - Lovely nose. Mature smoked, meaty, earthy but also some red fruit notes. A mature wine that is just lovely now.

May 9, 2015 - Brisket, Bordeaux, and Rhones: It's in a very nice place right now, a little soft, but elegant and complete.
