April 21, 2024 - NiklasW had perfect review on the wine he opened

April 21, 2024 - Decanted for an hour. This would have needed more air, got better in the glass. Very elegant, with a beautiful nose of rose petals, blood and rust, the rose petals becoming stronger with more air. The palate showed very strong tannins, good red cherries, it really needs food to go with. Paired superbly with lamb meat and porcini pie.

December 27, 2021 - Opened for Christmas dinner together with to magnums of Chateau Talbot 1996 and 2005, and it clearly struggled with the competition. Clear light amber color, clearly aged. The nose also exudes mature tones of dried fruit (a bit raisin), tobacco, dry wood and smoke, and a hint of tar/minerals. Full bodied, almost sweet attack with lots of sweet cherry, some tobacco, a bit of licorice at the end. Fine acidity, smooth tannins, but a bit sweet at the aftertaste. I guess this wine, if drunk alone and not together with the bdxs, I would have appreciated it more, but in comparison (especially with the 1996) it just seemed somewhat unstructured and "easy drinking". Not a wine for keeping, anyway. This is fully matured.

November 20, 2021 - Decanted for almost 2 hours. This is in a fantastic spot now, the nose is wonderful, full of good red cherries, rose petals, and a hint of leather. The palate shows mature fruit, with strong tannins, this has entered its drinking window. It went superbly with a moose stew and gnocchi.

October 10, 2019 - A Study of Vigna Rionda (Racines, NYC): The ‘04 Anselma was remarkably pretty, showing dusty rose, cedar, and musty dried red fruits. On the palate, I found silky textures backed by juicy acidity, as black cherry, sweet spice, dark chocolate and hints of violet florals filled the senses. The finish was long, evolving more into earth tones, with wild berries, spice, hints of soil and mounting tannin. The ‘04 is drinking beautifully, with an easy decade of evolution ahead of it.
