February 19, 2023 - No formal notes taken, but just a quick note to say this was drinking better than the bottle I noted four years ago. Really beautifully integrated and I'd say now drinking in its prime. Its youthful exuberance from the vintage is now completely integrated and I love the way it has developed. Again, no hesitation to drink through these whenever it strikes my whim.

June 22, 2020 - Contrary to my last bottle, this one was not past it's prime. Lots of fruit left here. Drinking really nice, loved it.

July 17, 2019 - Same as the bottle 7 years ago, this starts out really stinky. I think it's just reduction, as it mostly blows off in just 15 minutes. After that time this wine is quite enjoyable. The aromas are certainly heavy and darkly complected, showing tar covered blackberries, briar and spice, and perhaps the burnt crust on creme brulee. Palate entry attacks with intense, thick fruit and vibrant acidity. It's actually surprisingly light in the mouth with that acidity, as it dances around in a very pretty way. Tannins build if you hold it, but the balance of fruit and acidity keep things in check. Pleasing tones of raspberries and blackberries are the dominant flavors. Very rich and thick despite that lightness it expresses. Finish shows some darker fruits at first, including blackberries and plum meat, but the acidity starts ramping up in a few seconds. There are some slightly mature notes on the finish at this stage, including some wet leaves, but the rich fruit remains. Tannins also linger for quite some time, and I suspect they will outlive the fruit in this wine. This is drinking in a very fine place today. My 7 year old note indicates some new world prolocatives, but I'm no longer getting that. It seems to have settled in. It may in fact be drinking at peak, because it still maintains that ripe fruit notion but shows some tertiary development for sure. I don't think it's BETTER than the 2012 note, but it is different and evolved. I also don't suspect it will be better than it is today, and I certainly wish I didn't go 5 years between bottles consumed. Drink now - soon.
