May 23, 2012 - Vintage Select Industry Tasting (Vintage Select Warehouse, Houston, TX): This may have been one of the best values today. On the nose, earthy funky barnyard with red and black fruit along with blueberry and mineral On the palate, blackberry, blueberry, sour cherry, mineral, earth, olive. Long finish with a ton of grip and great acidity to balance it out. Great wine at a great price. Outstanding.

February 5, 2012 - Aerated into decanter, let breathe one hour (approx.) ... This is a deep red, almost black blend. The nose was a little muted after air, with the initial fruit notes blowing off in favor of barnyard. The palate is a really nice blend of earthy funk and black and blue fruits, with the mineral barnyard notes at the forefront. This is an extremely well-balanced blend with a strong tannic backbone, bright acidity and a medium long, extremely dry finish. Nicely complex. Overall very, very nice and it seems like it will held up well. One of the better examples I've seen out of SA and a nice QPR at around $25/bottle.

January 15, 2012 - FINALLY, something from South Africa outside of DeToren and Eventide syrah that I can click with...this is not characteristic So. Africa...no herbal notes found(eg. bell pepper) common with this area...no formal notes because this was tasted amongst a host of other wines and this was more of a social tasting...from memory, new world style but made in the common flabby overextracted style of today....plenty of sweetness from the cocoa powder....but no spoof here....plenty of acidity so it has a refreshing quality that keeps you drinking without experiencing palate fatigue.....black cherries...black raspberries...interesting polish scents on the nose. Well priced at $25...a current new world favorite
