Community Tasting Notes 3

October 14, 2017 - Dave's 40th birthday. My most exclusive tasting ever!!! (@ Bottles; Sas van Gent, Netherlands): Beautiful and expressive, complex bouquet with some honey and caramel. On the palate a luxurious wine with beautiful citrus, minerals and great freshness. Great wine.

August 8, 2010 - Grand Blanc at Aquarelle French Restaurant (Austin, Texas): What a surprise! The 1996 vintage has been difficult for so many producers, with the Batards of Ramonet, Sauzet, and others badly oxidized, and this producer, not experienced by many of us, served up a great blanc Burgundy on par with our Niellon, Jadot, and Blain-Gagnards. With a subtle, savory and saline nose, it was light in color and had a graceful, elegant mouth-feel. Full and round flavors were noted, of sweet Meyers lemons, white and golden flowers, lemon, honeysuckle, and tropical fruit, balanced with a beautiful tart character. Very complex and well-balanced on all fronts, this begged for seafood.

June 6, 2009 - Utterly sick. A transforming white Burgundy experience. Ripe notes of pear and passion fruit on the nose with a clear note of botrytis, from the nose alone I would expect something overly ripe. The palate however was an utter panther, loaded with mineral, acid, and lemon; taut with loads of verve. Surprisingly tense and wound up, we followed this for 3+ hours, and it was spectacular.
