  May 21, 2015 - This seven-year-old wine retains a youthful, opaque ruby robe. The nose is dominated by earthy, forest floor aromas which are complimented by anise, cassis and cedar. Full-bodied, freshly acidic and toting some big rustic tannins, it delivers flavors which mirror the nose and does so without any heat from its reported 13.5% alcohol. Staying solid in the middle and closing with a medium-length (but astringent) finish, this is a wine that has the fruit and structure, but is lacking in the "charm" department. Not my cup of tea, especially from the Napa Valley. That said, this wine will have many fans who prefer the style. I doubt that it will get any better with cellaring. Drink now-2022.
