October 9, 2014 - Drank tonight with guests - it was really enjoyed by all. One of the better Zin efforts we have seen.

September 1, 2012 - Big Zin. Licorice and dark fruit on nose. Dark berry. Blueberry. Chocolate cake ? Lots going on here. Little hot on initial pour. After sitting out for awhile, the flavors burst open. Big Cali Zin. Nice job

June 9, 2012 - Tasted at OC4PokerXIII (2nd day juice). beachrooster brought this and I'm glad he did. Very true to the growing place and variety. Not sure it's worth $60 though; $40-$50 would be more like it.

October 1, 2011 - I only got a glass of this (since we had guests), so I will edit this when I open another bottle (soon). But this drank like something that had been in bottle for a lot longer than the few months that it has...wonderful dark fruit, and not a rough edge to be found. I'll score later, but this was really, really good. UPDATED 3/24/12: The Rockpile appellation from which these grapes originate brought back some great Rock & Roll memories of the namesake British band (Google it), that unfortunately fizzled out far too quickly. This, however, is a wine that won't fizzle out anytime soon. Rather than Rockpile, it brought to mind The Rolling Stones' "Black and Blue"--a fresh nose of blue fruit leading to the Spinal Tap-like mouthfeel ("How much more black can this be? None. None more black"). Gotta love that 19% Petite Sirah. Decent acidity and dark fruit attack on the front end, with a bit of anise on the very back that I don't recall catching when I first tasted this last October. I'm still tasting it as I type this. It's a wine that'll drink well for years, but why wait?
