  January 18, 2013 - So there we have it, another spanish wine at a price point way below 10€ scoring 90 Parker points and again I wonder what the heck Miller tasted here. This is a fairly generic Tempranillo and not even a well made one. Colour is a dull purple, on the nose pretty artificial berry notes, hints of coffee - nothing really enjoyable or interesting here. In the mouth the wine starts out with rather sweet berry notes, quickly turning a bit sour and offering present bitter notes. These integrated a bit over time, but the wine seemed to disintegrate into a sweet jammy potpourri of non-distinctive fruit aromas the more air it got. This is nowhere close to 90 points and even taking QPR into consideration it is of no interest. There are lots of better simple Tempranillo drinking wines out there at this price point which offer much more joy. Therefore: avoid. I really hope that Campogate and Miller's "retirement" finally put an end to these nonsense ratings of spanish wines in the Wine Advocate as it is really getting ridiculous.
