  August 29, 2021 - Another soiree in order (also had 1991 Orlando Lawson - 96 pts and a surprising 1984 Hollick Coonawarra Cabernet - 93 pts)
  and this bottle. Another lazy bottle of near 25 year old Rockford Basket Press that simply was amazing. its almost boring to keep writing about potentially one of Australia's most iconic shirazes. Here it is again locked between two amazing vintages of 96 and 98 and somewhat overshadowed but was just stunning. A lovely sweet balance, with earth , cedar, chocolate and sweet dark red berried exotic ripe fruit. Full bodied and rich in the mouth with extreme length and multi faceted tang swirling the mouth. Many years, possibly 2 decades to go, A little Cabernet/Bordeaux -ish in style which i find in old Basket Press from less recognized vintages but for which i love. 87,88,89 prime examples. But all minor semantics. This was just in a world of its own. Comparing it to a 97 Grange would be unfair to the Basket Press, as a 97 grange would not even come close. A McLaren to a LADA. Just amazing stuff and served with the softest lamb cutlets ive ever had. They had the texture of marshmallow.

  March 14, 2021 - Cork perfect. Sweet fruit still present with fine tannins and great tertiary aromas of leather, tobacco and forest floor. At its peak.

  March 6, 2021 - Lovely drink, full bodied, smooth but generous tannin, moorish mouthful enticing you back for more. Am inclined to drink rest of stock while it remains so good.

  December 16, 2020 - Opened and decanted about 2 1/2 hrs before drinking. Cork was perfect. Neck level was low but not a problem! Bouquet was inviting and had a good level of fruit considering it’s age. Tannins were quite soft and it was a beautifully developed wine for its age and not past its time at all thankfully! Very yummy. If you have this do drink now. Make sure such a good wine does not get too old.

  June 7, 2020 - What a beauty! Deep garnet in colour. Fragrant aromatic dark fruit on the nose. Full bodied, plenty of life still after 23 years; dark cherries.
