Community Tasting Notes 5

  • Rezy13 Likes this wine:

May 16, 2015 - New World Blind Tasting Group $25+ (Bin 75): Garnet core, some clarity, dark crimson rim; ripe, age, raspberry, slight stewed cherry and currant, green pepper, pencil shavings, vanilla, clove; fuller body, finally a mid palate, ripe, stewed fruit from age; very good; called '07 Napa Cab blend.

April 25, 2013 - Tasted again w similar notes however, didn't feel it was up to 92. :-)

    Solid wine.

February 28, 2013 - I have noted before that this wine does not noticeably improve with air. This bottle actually peaked at 4 hours, and we didn't leave any to sip after that. Good stuff.

January 4, 2013 - Probably the best smelling wine I've ever sniffed. It really makes the entire house smell good. Delicious to drink as well, and worth the relatively high $80 price point. However, consistent with the first bottle we had, this wine declines quickly with air. Pop, pour, and finish within a couple hours. Within four hours, the wine is noticeably worse. A day later, its common supermarket quality. Unless this wine is just at an odd spot 4 years young?

May 18, 2012 - Root beer, molasses, blackberry, and sweet toasted oak on the nose. This was just released and is tasting very nice already after only 30 minutes of decanting. In the mouth you can tell that the wine needs time, but bursts with flavors of blue and black fruit, hint of white pepper, and a silky almost velvety texture. Excellent tannins and good length and balance. This wine will age nicely for maximum benefit.
