February 17, 2019 - Much better than 5 years ago but still a tad hot. Nice dark blackberry notes and oak and spicy plums notes. Long finish with medium acidity. Give it another 3-4 years.

January 2, 2019 - This is quite an old-fashioned type of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, but not in a bad sense of the word. The character of this wine is even somehow very Burgundian, except for the low acidity.

This medium/full-bodied wine is decently, but not overwhelmingly fruity. The tannins are still relatively tight, but the aromas and flavors of ripe red berries are appealing and pleasant. There are some notes of smoke as well. This wine certainly has required and requires time. It is pleasant and rewarding to drink now, but it would be interesting to taste it a couple of years later, when the tannins have fully softened.

November 2, 2018 - This one is coming along very nicely, and it's just starting to hit its stride. While the sugars are still dominant the garringue and pepper profile is starting to show, but the blackberry and dark fruit is still the dominant taste. Tannins are still solid, balance of the fruit and acids is notable. I think it will be an interesting ager.

September 4, 2018 - PnP in my extra large version of Schott Zwiesel PN glasses then slow oxed for 75 minutes plus. Enough air but, I could see benefit to a 2 hour plus decant too as this was excellent tonight but got better as the evening went on. I also prefer this around 55-60 degrees because of the 15% alc typical of most CDPs. Semi dark ruby red color. Aromas of underbrush, earth, spice, saddle leather and hint of leaf tobacco. Palate was equally fun and intriguing with more underbrush, mostly red cherry and raspberry, more earth, additional light leather notes, olive, herbs and light kirsch. For its 15% Alc this is remarkably balanced, lifted and nearly weightless by CDP standards. I'm happy to own two more of these and it will be fun to see if it picks up even more forest floor notes. I see this having some potential to age into a Henri Bonneau like CDP. I'll wait at least 2 years to open my next one in say late 2020 or 2021. I like where this is but intrigued to see where its going too. I haven't enjoyed many CDPs lately but this one hits the mark for its sense of terroir and balance.
