Community Tasting Notes 7

September 3, 2014 - Remains plush, juicy and friendly, but a little more grown up when compared to the previous tasting. Small line of acid runs through the middle of the palate. Uber friendly and just serious enough.

February 26, 2013 - Umm, this is odd. Last time I had this wine I adored it. This time, a very different impression. Off bottle I imagine. The smell is still great. Lovely bright blackcurrant and a little spice. The attack is good, but gives way to a very bitter after taste, even a touch sulphurous. Shame, because I was so excited to drink this again.
UPDATE: Day 2 this wine has improved massively! The off-balance between the attack and mid palate has disappeared and the wine is much closer to how I remember it now. Beautiful. How strange. Maybe the 6 months and contrasting storage conditions played a role... score changed from 87 to 91

November 16, 2012 - Can't be too many cabernet-based wines like this coming out of Geelong. Soft, but not plush, with amazing aromatics and fluffy herbal cab and shiraz fruits. Really very pretty and dainty, and the sweet herbal lift on the nose is something else. But, this wine is front ended with little by way of structure and bones to keep it together for the long haul. Glad I tried a bottle at 4 years of age.

November 16, 2012 - This is the first Australian wine that has truly blown me away (and I've had a lot). There's no need to write detailed tasting notes with this wine. It is just so delicious! Probably the easiest drinking red wine I've ever had. Incredible deep fruit: blackberrys, blueberrys and raspberrys. 15% addition of pinot is inspired. Buy this wine!

September 23, 2012 - Outstanding for its enjoyability and quality but perhaps more for the "wow, what is going on with this wine?!" factor. Mostly cabernet sauvignon, some shiraz and merlot, and 15% pinot lifts the nose. A whirling maelstrom of mulberry, blackcurrant, strawberry, and fresh green herbs. Fleshy with fine tannins.
