Community Tasting Notes 14

November 28, 2012 - I can't decide if it is flawed or simply too old, but I think I'll go to the former. The nose, though having some elements of fruit, smells a bit like cork (not really wet cardboard). The palate isn't much better, though there is fine acidity and tannins on the finish. I've had corked bottles that were a lot worse, this one is drinkable, but just barely, which is why I'm hesitating a bit.

June 13, 2011 - We had this with eggplant casserole on 6/13/11. It had a ripe fragrant bouquet of black cherry, blueberry, blackberry, raspberry, coffee, cocoa, cinnamon, mineral and spice aromas. The palate was ripe, well integrated and tasty with flavors of sour cherry, plum, blackberry, coffee, cocoa, mineral and spice. My wife said it was "OK"

February 12, 2011 - Most of the fruit is gone from the nose, which ends up rather closed. Palate is similar to previous notes but with more emphasis on wood and spice and less black fruits. Has it reached its limit ?

September 10, 2010 - Pepper dominated nose with earthy under tones the palate is rich ripe dark fruit. Well balanced, lush medium bodied.

This wine begins to develop more tannin character after a couple of days in the bottle.
