Community Tasting Notes 9

January 12, 2011 - Wow! This is really drinking beautifully right now. The nose is complex and intense, both immediately upon opening and after an hour in the decanter. It's got blood, floral notes, prunes, pepper... A little less intense on the palate, but very smooth and well-integrated; everything is in balance at this point. Good finish. 91-92

November 18, 2009 - Complex, similar to previous notes. Nice combination of fruits, smoke, tobacco, salt and minerals (giving it a sweet and sour taste) but perhaps slightly less exciting than previous bottle. 89-90.

June 1, 2009 - Same as in March - lovely wine for the medium term.

May 23, 2009 - It takes 0.5-1hr to open up. On the nose candied cherries, iron/iodine, clove, nail polish, old wood, figs and blood (smell is total grenache). Very good medium body, with sweet fruits and a bit of meatiness and some spice. Great mouthfeel with juicy finish, still quite tannic but well integrated. Great experience, this can last and improve for several more years. Need to get one more. 90-91pts. It declined slightly by the next night: more tomato and old wood on the nose but also some pretty floral component and cherry liquor after 1 hour of air in a wine glass. Lots of sediment at the end.

March 14, 2009 - Another bottle with lovely sweet fruit in among the pepper and garrigue. Opening up though probaby 3-5 years away from its peak. An excellent Chateauneuf.
