August 31, 2013 - Really interesting wine. Very tropical-fruit entry (agree on the passion fruit and guava) and energetic mid-palate with a very mineral finish, some oak. Very rich and nicely balanced with good acid. Will not be everyone's cup-of-tea, but a very good wine, nonetheless. Do not buy this if you are looking for a traditional 1er Chablis. It will be interesting to see whether this ages - but my guess is that this is an early drinker. Perhaps an obvious tip (but it hadn't occurred to me) - instead of trying to scrape off the wax capsule to open this, I just stuck it under the hot faucet for a minute and then pulled the cork through the wax. Worked like a charm.

January 23, 2013 - Quite richer than other chablis, more fruit, good to very good balance, just a touch of butter cream final. I dare say it's a good-perfumed-more approchable chablis, I opened it together with Valmur 2010 Bessin, this was stunnig.

October 26, 2012 - Burgundy 2012 Day 6: Lunch at Le Millésime (Chambolle-Musigny, Burgundy): Made by Thomas Pico, who has been talked-up as a future star in Chablis, this was a delicious if rather un-Chablis-like wine. It had a really exuberant, aromatic nose, almost dancing out of the glass with bursts of exotic fruits and flowers, with tropical notes from passion-fruit to green mangoes, with a touch of oak at the side. A world away from the more classic pair of Raveneau 1er Crus on the same flight, but really attractive nonetheless. The palate was deliciously hedonistic too, with a beautiful crunch of passionfruit, guavas and green mango laced with juicy Chablis acidity and a lovely, slatey minerality that powered its way into a solidly grippy finish. There was a real sense of balance and power here, with a long pull of mineral and spice relieved by drifts of fresh flowers. A very impressive, enjoyable wine which should age very nicely. In fact, this should be quite a bit better in say 5 to 6 years time. At the moment, I still enjoyed the Raveneau pair more, especially given that they were from a nominally poorer vintage, but this bottle has certainly piqued my interest, and I will be looking out for more from Domaine Pattesloup.
