May 28, 2020 - This big rich ripe bruiser still hides its 15.8% pretty well with residual sweetness on the palate instead of heat. Jammy on the nose and palate. Not really a wine to drink with food - it's too BIG, even at 11 years.

In many ways this wine is a throwback to those days of BIG is BETTER - today's leading Zins tend to emphasize a touch more finesse and subtlety with fruit that expresses more nuance. Sadly, even today many of those wines still crank out 15%+ alcohol levels.

January 3, 2016 - Loaded with fruit. This has a great nose and mouth feel. A bit hot on the finish but a very solid dusi overall.

July 17, 2014 - Medium garnet-purple in color, with pretty aromas of blackberry and bramble on the nose. Medium-weight mouthfeel, but despite the lack of density (not jammy!), there is a richness and elegance to the fruit that is rare in Zinfandels, much due to the excellence of the Dusi Vineyard, of which TJ makes perfect use of. A lovely wine, almost Pinot Noir-like, and versatile with a range of foods. Soft and sweet tannins, a nicely bracing acidity to the finish, and very well-crafted. Loved it.
