Community Tasting Notes 5

June 9, 2015 - Not very Pinot-ish in smell or taste. Ripe, plummy, black fruit bouquet, with touches of walnut shell and the basement aroma of an old wine. Displays a full body, tactile texture, pit fruit and tamarind flavors, and a ripe, slightly candied, black cherry finish. Ostensibly on its way out so drink soon.

April 14, 2014 - I'd love to be Abe to support Israeli wineries, but we need to be honest. This is no 90 point wine.

November 8, 2013 - GHW members weekend day #2 (Marom Golan): magnum
this wine does not taste like a Pinot Noir!
it's rich and fruity, can be associated with Tempranillo or other…
expressive black cherry aroma, smokey, cloves, spice, liquorice and herb.
full bodied, integrated tannin, cedar, black plum.
long and spicy ending, with chocolate & vanilla
not a typical Pinot Noir but a lovely and enjoyable wine for food.

October 13, 2012 - This wine is one that is sure to create controversy wherever it is poured. Why? Because the wine does not taste like a Pinot Noir! The wine is rich and lovely and more akin to a Tempranillo or Barbera than it is to a Pinot Noir. The nose starts off hot but then cools with lovely and expressive black cherry, smokey aromas, cloves, spice, licorice, cinnamon, and herb. The mouth is medium in weight with a nice and full mouth that coats the mouth with integrated tannin, sweet cedar, along with dark fruit, that is now coming together quite nicely with raspberry, and black plum. The finish is long and spicy with black pepper, chocolate, vanilla, and a hint of date on the finish. The wine is not a typical Pinot Noir, but please do not take that as an affront - it is a lovely and enjoyable wine. If you are looking for a Pinot Noir styled wine - look elsewhere. If you are looking for a lovely wine that works with cheese, chicken soup, and roast beef alike, that will please newbies and wine veterans alike, than this is the wine for you!

August 18, 2012 - Very good, though it needed a lot of time to open up, after a couple hours of being open it was still very closed and had a very strong spiciness to it which was gone by the end of the meal and was even better the next day. Medium bodied with a nice soft finish.
