July 18, 2006 - Coincidental Birthday Offline (Spanish mini-horizontal and Northern Rhones) (St. John, London): Dark ruby purple. This is a blend of 40% carignan, 20% merlot and the rest divide between cab. sauv., syrah and grenache. Blueberry and bacon on the nose. Huge plummy fruit, surprisingly approachable with fat but soft tannins. A hedonistic wine. Great now, but I not one for the long haul.

July 18, 2006 - Very concentrated, young and powerful, a bit sweet on the nose, herbal and spicy on the palate, good length, quite big and very assertive. Could easily be a new wave Roussillon or Languedoc carignan-grenache blend. Drinking nicely but for my taste missing that little extra something / sense of place.
