Community Tasting Notes 4

January 31, 2013 - I brought this up from the cellar at the cottage on a very cold (-30 degree!) day. The cellar had gone down to 6 degrees, and by the time I opened it, it probably was only at 16 or 17. So it felt a little restrained at first, especially on the nose, but it opened up nicely, as the evening wore on. This was quite elegant, I found; not jammy, but fairly complex with evolving dark fruit flavours, pepper and spice that tended more towards greener herbal notes by the end of the evening. Too bad the first one was corked. Now I'm all out!

January 7, 2012 - Consistent with my last notes except this bottle was a bit better integrated and had some blackberry flavors.

November 9, 2011 - Lots of dark stuff on the nose--black currant, some smoke, and black licorice on the end. Meaty and viscous. Some plum on the palate as well. Medium to short finish. Much better than the 2006 effort.
