  March 15, 2020 - An elegant monster of a wine, even at more than 10 years of age. The colour is still deep purple with an almost black core. Not very surprising for a Cornas, but still a bit surprising taking the age into consideration. Intriguing nose dominated by sweet blackberries and blueberries, complemented with lots of spices (eucalyptus, thyme, rosemary and pepper). Full bodied, sweet fruit in the first attack on the palate, then remarkable smooth - but very present - tannins, ending in a long, spicy aftertaste where hints of smoke and well-hung meat emerges. High acidity lifts this wine into a finish that is almost elegant (a term I seldom use for Cornas), combining blueberries with pepper and provencal spices. A treat to drink now, and will evolve positively for at least ten more years. And after that you can leave it to your grandchildren.
