October 20, 2022 - Dark purple in color. 13.8% ABV. Sublime nose of dark fruits, anise and flowers. Medium body with ample acidity. Just enough fruit to make the wine compelling at 13 years of age. Black cherry, saline, barbecued meats and minerals on the palate. Nice length on the finish. I've never had a Willamette Valley Syrah with this much bottle age and there is much to like here. Drink soon.

November 1, 2021 - I liked day 1, given the razor-like acids and surprisingly youthful red fruit and cranberry laden palate. Didn’t quite get much of the meaty savory flavors, but some of the spices were nice. Day 2 lost some steam though, so perhaps past it’s peak. Looking forward to some of the younger bottles.

August 9, 2017 - First let me tell you what I liked about this wine: The sediment. There was a lot of it. Which tells me the folks at Brittan aren't about to filter out any flavor from their wines. Bravo!

Now, the rest of the story: Syrah from Oregon? Skeptical, I was. But let's try it! Okay, looks and smells like a full-bodied, dark, rich syrah. However on the first sip....something was not quite right. This wine, while full of great fruit and mineral smells was thin and acidic on the palette. I have a feeling this would have been a bit more in balance a couple of years ago. Still better than most grocery store wines, but I am disappointed.

August 2, 2015 - Earthy, spicy, bold but classy fruits. Needed decanting, sediment.

February 16, 2015 - Dark and cloudy with purple edges. A savory nose, with aromas of black fruits, fresh meat, and herbs. Medium to full bodied, with notes of black and red fruits, white pepper, and herbs. Good acidity. Terrific.
