February 9, 2016 - Medium yellow gold color. Rich honey, peach, mineral, citrus and light toasty oak on the nose. Rich mouthfeel with the honied fruit in balance with the minerals and vanilla from the oak. I some previous bottles I got a good bit of alcohol on the nose and palate but with time this seems to have dissipated. Solid Sleepy Hollow but not the best I've had of this bottling in my opinion.

November 2, 2014 - A classic, a masterpiece! In the top five CA chardonnays I've ever had. Henry Miller's notes are spot on. We left a teaspoon full in the glass overnight and next morning that little drop was still incredible. This wine may be at it's peak now but somehow I feel it will gain still more complexity in 2-5 years. BRAVO!

June 1, 2013 - I am a huge sleepy Hollow chard fan but I think 2009 marks a real change in style that I am not that fond of... Less Burgundian and more Cali with more oak and alcohol and less subtle complexity and less age-ability. Decent tropical fruits but more oak than "normal" and just a bit hot for a chard in my view. Seems just a bit out of balance.

After being rather disappointed we corked the bottle and put it in the refrigerator. Pulled it out a week later, yesterday afternoon to drink at the pool with some friends and wow what a transformation. It was like a completely different wine, or perhaps I should say like the wine I expected. It was rich and buttery yet lively with citrus and apricot. We all agreed the was a good 3-4 points higher score today... Call it 92+
Moral of the story is let this breath a while before drinking.
