January 28, 2014 - immediately after opening, deep apple-juice color, loud trombone blast of orange marmalade, apricot, "nectar" smells and flavors - not quite as sweet as those things are, but those flavors. after several hours and into the second day, this profile softened and became more "yellow fruit"-like, with acidity and peripheral seashell minerals adding to the party. both flavors and mouthfeel made this more of a "power" wine than a "finesse" wine, but still excellent.
