Community Tasting Notes 5

March 21, 2018 - Tart and brambly, with a nice finish. Needs food to round it out - worked nicely with cheese. Tannins are nicely receded.

April 23, 2014 - A very nice wine for the price.

April 20, 2014 - Wonderful cab, not typical of the region, nice nose, well balanced. Smooth.

January 20, 2013 - Double decanted and waited an hour. A nicely balanced bottle of wine with a fruity nose and smooth finish.

November 3, 2012 - Popped and poured. Dark purple, quite youthful. Although not very complex, the nose is redolent with dark fruits...think crushed blackberry, plum, and currant. The fruit is complemented by an umami note akin to damp nori wrapper and a subtle tobacco aroma. An intriguing spice note from oak develops with aeration. Medium-plus body. On the palate, this shows much like the nose does with an abundance of dark fruit notes. Perhaps a touch more herbaceous in mouth too. Moderate-plus acidity keeps everything lively and the somewhat chalky tannins could use a bit more time to mellow but still do a great job carrying the fruit through on the moderate close. It's really nice how little the oak shows in this.
While tasty now with a bit of air, this should just be be great in 1-2 years and will drink well for at least 5-8+.
