April 29, 2022 - This is one of the oldest wines I have in my cellar. Purchased at the winery all the way back in 2004. To say this wine has seen a lot is an understatement. Life's ups and downs; a few moves; births and deaths. I could go on and on. Parts of me wanted to save the wine for a really special occasion. Parts of me wanted to save it as a "show piece". A little part of me wanted to drink it. At the end of a very stressful week, with the successful completion of a very stressful project, the little part of me won out. And man, am I glad it did. This is, without a doubt, in it's prime right now. 23 years old and SINGING!!! Aged perfectly. The cork is in pristine condition. Wine is resilient. This has certainly not seen ideal storage conditions over it's life, but this was perfect. Simply outstanding notes of cranberry, raisin, stone, wet earth, sottobosco. Outstanding secondary notes of the raisin and leather, but still retaining some of the youthful cranberry and sottobosco notes. My final bottle and I couldn't imagine a more perfect ending. My favorite Brunello, and this is why. FLAWLESS!!! Grade: A+(+++)

April 17, 2020 - 10th of 12, pnp, perfect cork and level, I'm liking this less and less, there's nothing particularly wrong, it's almost too correct and frankly dull, there seemed to me more to it in its youth when the fruit attack was attractive, it's now in a dull middle age with a worrying lack of complexity to the fruit, the second half of a bottle of Ricolma 2000 opened the previous night had much more to it. VG+ (16.5).

January 23, 2020 - This is in such a beautiful spot. The nose is generous featuring balsamic, brown sugar, dark cherry, red cherry, dry hay, porcini mushroom, and dried rosemary. Great structural balance; medium tannin and and medium plus acid, providing that lovely food friendly mouthfeel Brunello can do so well. Great food wine. Gorgeous.

December 6, 2019 - Mature. Currant herbs soft dark fruit. Some complexity across the taste.

July 11, 2018 - 8th of 12, pnp, perfect cork and level, less fruit forward, though perhaps even more nuance than last note in May 15, dusty tannins slightly too prominent for my taste so downgraded until better integrated, hint of brown developing on rim though scope yet to improve over next 2 to 5 years. Just F (17.5).
