February 18, 2013 - Big, juicy and heady and proud of it. Nothing too complex; it's really all about the power. For this, which is how most petite sirah's go, it does a great job. It's a kick in the head for simply being a sipping wine, but that's exactly what it is despite. It is restrained, thankfully, by a 13.6% alcohol level. Worthy.

November 11, 2012 - Very nice PS. It has the strong fruity nose, rugged mouth feel and goes very well with BBQ ribs. This will stand up to the heaviest meat dishes with its assertive fruit flavors of blueberry, black fruit. For all its strength, it isn't overly tannic, but maintains good balance throughout. Good value PS.

March 3, 2012 - We love great Petit Sirah when we can find it; it tastes like a cross between a Syrah (not related) and a Zin...good with BBQ, grilled foods. This is a good Petit Sirah, not a great one. It has the inky color and fruity nose and taste associated with varietal, with the spice of a Zin. The fruit is definitely blackberry to the taste, seemingly a touch of earthy wood. It stong, but not austere, but delicate enough to go with lots of food. It seemed a little tight--meaning young, probably will be better in a year, but not for long term aging. Will let the two remaining bottles sit for 6-12 months and I think it will be a tad better. Our QPR Petit Sirah of record remains Bogle, but this one has possibilities- a little more depth. We'll see. At 11.99 a bottle, neither a steal or overly pricy for the quality.

February 28, 2012 - It's a touch lighter, more sprightly, and simpler than the '09, but nevertheless offers-up plenty of that classic, meaty PS character. Aromas and flavors of blueberry, black olive, and mincemeat dominate, with hints of red grapefruit and black tea that freshen up the lot. Dark fruit flavors blossom and become more prominent as the wine opens up with a little air, but they never come across as heavy-handed. In fact, the wine comes across with a well-balanced, right out of the barrel freshness. Nicely done, as I would expect from this tp-notch Lake County producer.
