April 1, 2019 - As I make my way through this case, I am finding the wine increasingly underwhelming. Decanter's annual Top 50 have generally been fantastic. I am thinking that either the provenance of this case was sub-par or the wine just has not developed well over time. It is a fleshy merlot-based blend -- drinkable enough, but astringent and flabby.

February 19, 2019 - Good claret with an earthy character. Some of these bottles are singing, but this one still felt a little tight. Had it next to a much bigger Cali Cab, so relative perception may have been an issue.

January 19, 2019 - This wine showed a great ruby color to the eye. The legs started off quick with a secondary set just after. This wine had heavy sediment in the bottle. To the nose & mouth this wine provided hints of vanilla, cherry, plum and oak. The wine was smooth in texture with a shot finish. Enjoyed this wine with Robert & we both agreed this was an absolutely incredible wine that we would highly recommend again!!!

The body is medium. The wine has silky texture. The wine finishes long. The wine has medium acidity.

June 23, 2018 - Double decanted back into the bottle and drinking well right now; nose is concentrated dark fruits—dried black cherry and prune with hints of herbs and black pepper with a leather finish and smoke as it opens up. Palate is tannic but balanced with nice mineraly acidity. Blackberries and black pepper spice are present but otherwise the palate is very hard to place. Paired well with rack of lamb at Jay’s on Third in Stone Harbor.
