Community Tasting Notes 13

    July 13, 2021 - the 750ml btl that feels like a MAG.

Two bottles, first in better shape, this one still drinking nicely but a sprinkle of VA for added Verve. lots of oil painterly aromas. red fruit and pomegranate palate, but still lots of stony mineral to the nose. Med+ Acid.

June 21, 2013 - From magnum. After reading some pro tasting notes I feared I had waited too long. The first sniff after popping the cork laid that fear to rest. The fruit was just right, not over-extracted like some trendy Cali pinots and not as dry as some Burgundies often are. Well balanced and complex. Lingering finish. A very well crafted wine.

April 2, 2011 - Gorgeous and really well made. The oak receded with some air and the wine was much rounder, open and more integrated. Very attractive nose, quite reminiscent of fallen leaves in an autumn park. Candied cherries, earth, stalk, dried leaves, dried herbs. Delicious and moderate complexity, over medium finish.

September 10, 2010 - Bottle aired for 1 hour prior to drinking. Nice complexity. Earth, cherries, blueberries, stalk, barnyard, chinese medicine, herbs, chocolate, spice, some oak and even some bacon. Finishes medium long and minerally. Very attractive though the alcohol is a little in the way. Otherwise an excellent bottle. Perhaps time will soften the alcohol a little and integrate the flavours a little more. I would be very interested to try this again in another 2 years' time.

December 24, 2009 - Mittleres, transparentes rubinrot.
