Community Tasting Notes 20

October 17, 2021 - After the powerhouse lineup from last night that was filled with highlights, a wine like this brings a big smile to my face. About as much pleasure as a Bourgogne can provide - same qualitative level as MG yet different style. Singing at eleven years old, this electric ruby colored wine shows flamboyant yet pure Pinot fruit, orange tea and meaty/mushroom notes. Light bodied with a neat framboise element on the finish. Not deep but oh so satisfying. Drink up. (90)

March 13, 2021 - Still a lot of fruit, although the colorcis turning garnet, perfect amount of acid, really smooth tannins. Perhaps some spicy notes. Drinking really well.

February 26, 2021 - This is pretty special Bourgogne on top of its game. Light red / cherry juice color. Light bodied with good intensity. Cherry fruit - sappy, a bit of leather ...nice texture and a velvet finish. This has got substance and is one of the better Bourgogne I have tasted. Very well done. A good wine day. (90)

November 16, 2020 - There's a small number of producers who consistently produce Bourgogne of very good village quality, and among them there's a very small number, which includes Ponsot, who in the right vintage can produce Bourgogne of excellent premier cru quality. Why, when this wine was offered, did I only take a case and not all that was available? Pure, mineral, precise red fruits, a medium-light body, silky texture, great complexity (especially in the nose). Cellared since original release.
