March 22, 2023 - Appearance: deep, garnet bronze-coloured. On the nose: medium intensity; savoury/meating, tobacco, leather, smoky aroma. Palate: Dry, medium+ acidity, medium+ tannin (grippy, smooth). High alcohol, medium+ body, medium+ flavour intensity. Flavours: earthy/mushroom/forest floor. Smoky/tobacco/leather. Licorice, tar, burnt cocoa nibs/chocolate. dark cherry. Very good but probably at its best a couple of years ago. (JLC.)

March 16, 2022 - Deep red purple, black opaque. Vibrant bouquet of smoke, leather, and prominent fruit. Strawberry, cherry, dark chocolate, and eucalyptus…even a touch of savory celery. Full tannins and long finish. Drank our first bottle from Nicks late 2020 but I feel like now we are drinking at the perfect time. Much more lively than the 96 and 98 bottles we had. I’m sure this will continue to age nicely but I think it’s just right now.

January 5, 2020 - Cherries and plum. Vanilla oak, luscious but not confected, almost impenetrable black with dark red edges, excellent mouth feel and lingering length. Drinking really well now and looking good for another 3-5 years easy.

November 30, 2019 - Drinking well. Still plenty in the tank.

April 12, 2019 - Not a bad drop. Decanted for a couple of hours and had with a fillet steak and homemade pepper sauce. Can’t beat a Shiraz for that! Wonderful bouquet with loads of fruit and spice. A touch too much alcohol in the mouth and the finish fell away a little after a couple of hours finishing off the decanter but still a nice wine. Got one of these left from this vintage and I’ll leave it for a couple more years. Prefer the 2010 of which I still have plenty and which will cellar for another decade.
