July 6, 2023 - Bromley Wine Circle goes Ooop North (London) - South Africa (Ariana 2, Kilburn, London): The better of our pair of Pinotages. Some kumquat sweetness / sourness with a little spice and also some mature dark fruits too. Later there is something on the nose that reminds me of Chocolate Lime sweets. Palate on the sweet side but this is a fully mature example of one of the best Pinotages out there. It was great to have sampled it.

July 6, 2023 - Quite translucent. Complex if rustic. Loads of (expensive) bonfire smoke, spice, pepper, leather & dust. Spiky finish to start but settled down. I wanted to like this more than I did.

September 22, 2013 - A private dinner at a friend's (Tilburg): Odd flavours even for a Pinotage, raw bitters, not as it should be, brett the most likely cause.

June 4, 2010 - Keith's Blind Challenge Offline (The Square, London): Blind. red. More of a purple-tinged red. Quite a fresh, cherry-led nose. Polished. Lighter on the palate, good acidity and tannin but a slightly medicinal; bitter edge to the finish. Quite leggy in the glass. Good grip but that astringency gets to me. **1/2 Maybe a South african blend, say an 01 de Toren Fusion V?
