November 5, 2020 - This is Cluver’s "Spatlese" style – a bit sweeter, but still positively tingling with minerality and acid cut. The International Wine Review rates it 91 points, saying:
The best Riesling we've tasted from South Africa, the Close Encounter is a lovely wine. Very fresh and intensely fruity, it shows honeyed apple aromas and flavors with mineral notes. High natural acidity keeps this wine tasting fresh and dry despite quite high residual sugar. A great wine for spicy Asian fare. -

May 8, 2020 - Pleasant and simple off-dry riesling. Nothing special but ok drinker with light and spicy foods and very reasonably priced.

September 18, 2012 - - Yellow color with slow forming legs and aromas of orange blossom and lemon. It's balanced and has flavours of lemon and apple with a light/medium body. Round texture with a short finish - Off dry rather than dry, pleasant and simple.
