Community Tasting Notes 3

August 20, 2023 - Pale ruby, bright and high-toned nose of earthy cranberry, black cherry, black plum, licorice, and spice, spicy on the attack followed by dark, tangy red fruit, "meaty" mid-palate, moderate tannins, and medium plus acidity, finishes with tart berry fruit, heat, spice, mineral-driven red fruit extract, and more, long finish

Note: Outstanding Clos of the King, still very compact, firm and structured, but I'm also not sure if more time is going to loosen this up, either way, the value is all in the finish

September 20, 2018 - Smells of very dark cherries with a hint of freshness and spice. Aromas carries onto palette with dark ripe stewed fruit, a bit of spice and with a little bit of juicy red fruit that I didn’t catch on the scent. Medium+ body with a luscious mouth feel without feeling oily. Lengthy finish with rounded/modest tannin and a mild residual heat. Drinking well right now, great balance. Opened up a little in the glass and became softer. With the mild heat 92, but everything else of this wine spoke 93-94.

March 16, 2018 - The score may be too low. I was absolutely stunned by this wine. Too young but drinking well. Classic Burgundian nose with smoke, meat and terroir just beautiful. Beautiful color with no sign of age at the rim. Sensual structured legs. Aromas of cherries and black fruit. Structured, balanced with well integrated tannins and just the right amount of acidity. Soft and mellow on the palate almost thin at first but evolved and put on some weight. Balanced and structured on the palate which for me means it was elegant throughout and there wasn't an attack followed by a mid palate followed by a simple finish. This was satin from the tip of the tongue to the elegant and lengthy finish. This bottle is and should be sought after with much age remaining.
