March 14, 2023 - Late night at home with J. Drank in Grassl cru.
Appearance is clear, pale intensity, ruby colour with thin garnet rim. Legs.
Nose medium+ intensity, with aromas of emerging dark humus earth, dark red cherries, dark red berries, slight animal mush, spice. Developing.
On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium alcohol (13.5%), structured medium+ tannins, medium+ body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of crunchy stones minerality, savoury dark earth, dark red cherries, dark red berries, spice, bit of meatiness and iron. Some black berries and sour red cherries with more air. Long finish.
Very good quality. Open and showy. Structured and Volnay with substance. Good drinking already and can age a bit more also.

January 3, 2018 - Popped, poured, decanted and enjoyed over 3+ hours. Last glass was most certainly the most deep and complex. Terrific, layered nose of primary red cherries, musk, earth tones, florals and spice. The palate has medium body with terrific sappy fruit and fresh acids. Cleary young (okay, too young) but this delivers with its fresh, energetic fruit and layers of primary flavor. Good now, though likely has upside as it gains further complexity and definition.

March 11, 2016 - Volnay tasting: Deep and with dark berries, serious actually. Good power, rather loose knit.

March 23, 2012 - Grands Jours de Bourgogne - Meursault and Volnay (Tonnellerie Damy - Meursault): Tasting. Lots of red and black cherry with modest spice. Very well structured with great balance. Good minerality, acidity help provide energy and a long, lean, elegant finish.
