November 19, 2022 - Really a great showing, complex dark fruited, super smooth and velvety on the palate. Sexy wine.

August 4, 2021 - Not a wine I am likely to see often, this is at full maturity. Medium-bodied, supple, soft, spicy and fresh, the ripe sweet, red and black plums carry through on the nose through to the polished finish. No decanting is needed here, just pop, pour and enjoy.

July 22, 2021 - filtered and 2 hour decant. peak drinking but should have another 10 years left.

January 9, 2019 - Beautiful clean nose, just beginning secondary notes. Dark, impenetrable, no bricking, full bofied, sweet tannins, dark fruit. Long long finish.

November 15, 2018 - Anyone who thinks that only Pétrus can transform 100% merlot from 50+ year old vines into great wine hasn’t tried the ‘00 or 01 La Clusiere. With only 300-400 cases, and production ended in’01, that may be a tough pursuit. Nose shows blood, iron dust, chalk, and black cherry caramel. This was made in Pavie style: big, full, rich, inky, viscous, intense dark fruits, fennel and licorice, not as complex or elevated as the 00, but no slouch. Enough structure to improve over the next few years, and drink well for 20. The wonderful contrast between the lush chocolatey black fruit midpalate and the bitter cocoa stone pit finish is thrilling.
