Community Tasting Notes 7

July 26, 2023 - Exquisitely seductive nose of cherries person nutmeg and figs. And tertiary aromas of more sweet spices such as cinnamon and a touch of forest floor. Irresistible sweetness (but in no way icky!) Profoundly haunting.

December 13, 2022 - Oaky nose and very sesame! Full of life with primary notes still intact. Both redand dark fruits in abundance whilst with aeration seeing a lot of depth! Later evolved to purple flowers and had an unusual elegance about it!

December 2, 2021 - Slow ox 30 minutes. Blackberry and cherry with a wild streak on the nose. The palate is ripe blackberry, earth, smoke and spice. Medium to full bodied, high toned, classic but a little rustic. This has the 2010 elegance. As good as Maume gets.

June 28, 2020 - The Grand Crus of Chambertin with Jasper Morris MW (Zoom!): Mazis has similar rock to Clos du Beze, and richer soil than the the first four of tonight's vineyards - Mazis is a wine of power. JM says this particular wine is a Marmite wine, and happily as with Marmite I'm a fan. Just a touch of reduction on the nose, but a cascade of lovely elegant fruit on the palate. Falls slightly short on the finish. JM thinks it might be a little closed, but the elegance of 2010 shines through.
