September 13, 2014 - Golden deep yellow color. Surprisingly restrained and even nondescript nose with some notes of sweet yet sour apple candy, smoky flint and steely minerality emerging with air. Light-bodied and acid-driven on the palate with intense lemony flavors, some stony minerality, a little smoke and a hint of honey. Lovely laser-like cut of acidity. The finish is long, crisp and very acid-driven with pronounced minerality, some lemony citrus fruits, a little steel and a hint of minerality.
Very nice, pure and focused effort, but surprisingly lacking some expression. The structure is tremendous and the wine feels balanced, but somehow I expected more expressive aromas, flavors and complexity. Probably a short-term decanting might have benefited the wine? Overall this was good stuff, but not as impressive as I expected it to be.
