Community Tasting Notes 2

February 28, 2014 - Herbs, cocoa and dark fruit on the nose. Notes don't carry onto palate. Tannins are light, but present. Acid balance is adequate and the finish is medium. Ends with a dry mineral finish. Probably a better food wine than straight sipper.

February 5, 2012 - Purchased, popped and poured with winter picnic dinner. Tomato paste red, alcohol and freezer jam raspberry on nose, 20% merlot presents in a comfortable inviting mouth feel, 80% cab sauv grapes have great neighbors in Col Solare and Ciel du Cheval vineyards, and seem to present grapes that have been vinified to present with a plump body, with little complexity or finesse in taste or in the straightforward finish. Maybe she'll change with some time, but with the light tannins in this bottle I'm not sure.

(Eight Bells Winery Cabernet Sauvignon Red Mountain) Medium ruby. An aromatically fascinating wine with penetrating anise aromas and high toned spices. The palate is very soft with cherry flavors accented by oak spices with well integrated tannins. 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot. Ambassador and Hedges vineyards. 14.6% alcohol. 128 cases produced.
