Red fruit, tart cherry with a tannic oaky backbone. This is a wine I want to own .
Hour two the wine improved. -

“un grand terroir décevant" dixit un commentateur à l'aveugle. On sent bien qu'il s'agit d'un Pinot, sa finesse, sa puissance parlent, certains disent côte de Beaune (Volnay), c'est dire s'il y a un probleme. En effet, le nez est contrit, manque de pureté et de fruit, tandis que la bouche se montre serrée et fine, mais sans vie, un rien inerte et dure. Mais où est le charme de l'appellation, la complexité parfumée et l'élégance des tanins?
En 2010 le niveau du domaine semble encore dans la continuité du passé, la mue reste à venir.
Au final, pas sûr qu'avec le temps, la matière de ce Malconsort se transforme suffisamment pour en faire un chef d'oeuvre... -

January 17, 2022 - Having read the previous notes on this wine, I somewhat agreed until.... Day 3. Corked and refrigerated with a nice glass or 2 over three days has proven rewarding, as the wine takes on a unity and depth that was lacking upon opening and aeration, and just starting to show by Day 2. There is wood, spice, red fruits, but over time the wine gains a silken texture that makes Malconsorts a wonderful Premier Cru. Do not miss and be patient for Day 3.
