November 22, 2018 - Unfortunately this bottle had a leak in the cork, which was only visible after removing the capsule. Even with this defect, the wine was not bad... just missing some of the expected energy. We've had this one before, so know what to expect.

Great fruits (mostly dark berries)
Great acidity
Fine sexy tannins
Good complexity (herbs and mint)
Silky texture
A touch too full bodied with higher alcohol than what I usually expect from barbera, but this is nonetheless a fantastci wine. -

December 11, 2017 - A bit negatively surprised as I had a superb experience with exactly this vintage 2 years ago. Back then it was a fantastic Barbera. Excellent fruit, round big and smooth. This bottle now had quite a few tertiary notes like forest floor, earth, tabacco etc. The fruit was almost gone. For me this was a bit past its prime. Maybe a little bit an off bottle. Need to try again. Usually the Barberas from La Spinetta are all really good!
