Community Tasting Notes 4

April 2, 2016 - Double magnum. Cork a bit soft but still reasonable.
Deeply coloured, dark core, tawny rim.
    Ripe black fruits, gentle cedar,
Good structure, medium weight with a crisp finish, youthful zest.
Quite strong tannins, soft but plentiful. Fruits have good intensity, blackcurrant, raspberry, blood plum. Hints of dried herbs, a little dark spice, hints of lead pencil.
A vibrant tasty mouthful. Impressive for its age, no doubt due to the size.

May 7, 2013 - Palmer vertical: From double magnum. Bleak, short, no direct oxidation.

September 24, 2009 - 1966 Meyney - Dried pit fruit and tobacco scents were not made more attractive by the austere nature of the wine. This fully mature wine ended with light cassis and cherry flavors.

December 25, 2005 - The foil was depressed, but the underlying cork was perfect. Deep red/brown color. The nose is luscious and rich- forest floor, mushrooms, and a bushel of plums. The palate follows the nose with the addition of mint, and is quite silky with very little remaining tannin. It finishes well. The acidity is still holding this wine up quite well. Nice showing for this lesser chateau.
