May 17, 2022 - Earthy, leathery nose - a bit faded. Still a deep red color, on first taste it was astringent and nothing there, after 10 minutes in the glass the first taste is still nothing amazing, bit of tart but juicy cherry, but just as I was going to write it off, it really just blossoms on the palate over 90-120 seconds. Definitely a wine well past prime, but a reminder that even a faded lesser old Bordeaux can bring some great pleasures.

April 13, 2019 - For a 41 year old wine it is very drinkable. Fun, fun, fun

August 6, 2007 - A fully mature bordeaux. Pale ruby, tending to brown in color. Nose of sweet cranberry, bell pepper, a little smoke, and a little exotic spice. The palate has mostly secondary flavors like leather and cranberry, but gives nice hints of a former cassis, dark berry, and even cocoa. The finish is slightly astringent. As with many 78s there is still some tannin, although this is far from hard at this point. This is a nice wine. If it had a little richer mouth-feel, or less astringency it would top out a few points higher.
